Heavy Are The Years is an illustrated story collection about the weight of time on our minds, our bodies, and our souls. Is it the looming, inevitable press of millennia across history changing even the most powerful beings in strange ways? Does time lose meaning or compound when it loops in on itself, trapping one soul within it's grasp? And what does time mean when we've left our mortal coil, trying to grasp the slippery stream of mortal time to reunite with a loved one?

Explore all these themes and more as you dive into this collected trio of illustrated stories. Heavy Are The Years, once funded, will debut in early 2027 with three novella-length stories, illustrated by artists paired carefully with each writer. This book is a collaborative project between Bonedust and Wildstar Press, a Stardust Collaboration.

The first story in our collection is Irreparable Evolution, written by K.C. Pickelsimer and illustrated by Jade Zhang. An archeological expedition goes horribly wrong when an ancient city is revealed, awakening a god that has been deeply changed by a millennia without worshipers.

The second story is Death Recoming, written by Andrew Belindo and illustrated by . If reliving the same day over and over sounds rough, how well would you handle reliving 50 years? A deeply soul-searching story about life, death, the decisions that make us who we are, and the lives we connect with on the way. And an ornery cat at the center of it all.

And the third story in our collection is Flight Patterns of the Dead, written by E.M. Linden and illustrated by Angela Hsieh. When a young mother is violently torn away from her baby, she'll do whatever it takes, even bargain with the strange spirits of the underworld, to find her way back to the land of the living. Should she fail, she may trap more than herself in an endless knot of possible futures and unchangeable pasts.
