Creator Spotlight: Rowan MacColl
Welcome to our first Creator Spotlight! Our debut featured artist is Rowan MacColl, the incredible illustrator behind The Traitor & The Wretch.
Rowan is a New York comic artist and illustrator who has done book covers, ttrpg illustrations, and graphic novels. She loves dark fantasy, romance, elaborate historical costumes, and her cats. Her fingers are nibs and her blood is ink.
As well as a few pieces of art Rowan kindly shared from her portfolio, we’ve got a sneak peek for everyone looking forward to The Traitor & The Wretch!
If you want to see even more of Rowan’s art: check our her full portfolio site and her 1920’s occult mystery webcomic: Kingfisher
Rowan’s art balances intricate details that bring out amazing textural effects with negative space, giving all those details so much more impact. Every illustration tells a story on it’s own, and that was a big reason why we love her work.
Her work is versatile and can carry across all sorts of genres, from action and adventure, to haunting gothic vibes, to lurking horror. She can do it all, and with a delicate yet distinctive style.
We’ve been honored and delighted to have Rowan working on The Traitor & The Wretch, and here’s a peek at the work she’s done for the book! If you’ve already pre-ordered, you might recognize this scene of Knell and Percy’s first meeting (and if you haven’t, now’s the time to get a first look at the early chapters!)
