Creator Spotlight: Marie Enger

Welcome to our Creator Spotlight! Today we’re featuring Marie Enger, an amazing artist and the illustrator for This Mortal Coil.

Marie is the creator of DEATH TO THE WIZARD KINGS and CASKET LAND. They are a cartoonist, illustrator, and table top game designer based out of Chicago, IL and they love drawin' punk stuff, bootleg Draculas, and SKELETONS (which makes them the perfect fit for this book!) Their name is pronounced like "ANGER" but with an E.

If you’re not familiar with their art, Marie kindly shared some illustrations with us, including a little sneak peek concept art for Marrow and Kingslayer from This Mortal Coil.

One thing we love about Marie’s artwork is how confident it feels. It’s iconic and instantly recognizable with bold linework, stylized shapes, and punk flair. Their TTRPG work, particularly Death To The Wizard Kings, reflects so much of the values we respect Marie for holding, and encourages players to get weird and have fun even as they explore themes of freedom, self-determination, and empathy (and yes, killing the wizard kings.)

Marie’s Casket Land TTRPG is a surreal and harsh western setting, one of our personal favorites! This world is an unforgiving one, but play it well and you might just live to see another day. Or to ruin someone else’s.

And, of course, we can’t forget the skeletons! As sharp-eyed readers may have spotted, we’re a fan of those here at Bonedust Press, and Marie delivers!! Their skeletons have so much personality crammed into each and every one.
